Annual Review of Competency Progression

Modified on Tue, 26 Apr 2022 at 04:01 PM

Where an ARCP panel meeting is being held for an individual undertaking an academic clinical fellowship or lectureship, or for a clinical scientist, the panel should also include at least one academic representative. Academic panel members should specifically take a view about the evidence of academic performance that is submitted.

An annual assessment of academic progress must be undertaken and should take place at least one month before the joint academic/clinical ARCP panel convenes.

Trainee must achieve competencies in both clinical and academic components before a satisfactory outcome can be issued. If one or both components is not achieved, then the appropriate unsatisfactory outcome should be issued.

The ARCP panel should take into consideration both clinical and academic competencies when calculating CCT date for ACLs and not just the clinical competencies especially if considering a post CCT extension.

In addition to other documents required for ARCP, an academic trainee must also complete an Academic Progression Report Form attached below and upload on their eportfolio.
