The national training survey (NTS) is carried out annually by the GMC to monitor and report on the quality of postgraduate medical education and training in the UK. All doctors in training are asked for their views. The NTS gives trainees an opportunity to provide confidential feedback on their training that can be used to make improvements.
The survey is therefore a unique opportunity for the whole trainee population to report back on their training. As part of the survey, trainees can also raise concerns they might have about patient safety or undermining. These aren’t published, but we share them with Postgraduate Training Organisations (PTOs) who review and share them with LEPs to investigate the issues raised.
