I wish to apply for my ALS – is this covered by the study leave allowance and study budget?

Modified on Mon, 9 Sep at 10:19 AM

If the life support course is listed on your programme's LaKSS study leave lists as a curriculum requirement, then you are able to claim for this in full from your study leave budget.

If an ALS course is not listed (e.g. for GP trainees) but is required for your service commitment, then you will need to apply to your Trust to reimburse the fee.

Please note that from 1st September 2024 a guideline upper limit of £300 applies to all ALS courses. If you incur a higher fee than £300 this will still be reimbursed by NHSE, but please endeavour to find a course within the £300 limit.
